Occupational Therapy for Children on the Central Coast
At Slam Dunk Occupational Therapy, we help children gain the physical, emotional, and social skills they need to thrive at home, at school, and in the community.
What Is PAEDIATRIC Occupational Therapy?
Paediatric occupational therapy empowers children to participate in the everyday activities that matter most to them – at home, at school, and in their communities.
Our focus is on enabling children to engage in their daily occupations, such as play, self-care, learning, and social interaction, by supporting the development of the foundational skills they need to participate meaningfully and independently.
- Participating in fine and gross motor tasks (e.g. writing, dressing, climbing, using cutlery)
- Engaging in play and social interaction with peers and siblings
- Regulating sensory input to remain calm, alert, and ready for learning
- Building routines and independence in self-care tasks (e.g. eating, toileting, getting dressed)
- Supporting attention, behaviour, and emotional regulation in daily tasks
- Increasing confidence and functional independence in everyday life
Is Occupational Therapy Right for My Child?
Whether your child has a formal diagnosis or you’re concerned about their development, occupational therapy can make a significant difference.
You may have noticed your child:
- Struggling with buttons, cutlery or holding a pencil
- Avoiding messy play, certain textures, or noisy environments
- Finding it hard to sit still or stay focused
- Getting frustrated easily or having trouble with change
- Falling behind in motor development or classroom tasks
- Avoiding group play or finding it hard to make friends
If you’ve noticed challenges like these affecting your child’s ability to play, learn, or take care of themselves, occupational therapy can support them to participate more fully in their everyday life.
